Dear reader,
The program runs according to the plan, except some delay in sequencing data delivery. This led to postponing hiring personnel (PhD and post-doc) for WP2 for three to six months.
In 2025 additional personnel was hired: six PhD-candidates and two Postdocs. In addition to the ones already welcomed in december 2024, we now welcome here: Iuri Mimoso, Karla Müller and Nine Droog.
On November 18, 2025, we had our consortium meeting where we tested a new format: we held three interactive plenary sessions and all junior scientists presented a poster on their work.
In November a workshop on interdisciplinary research was organized for all junior scientists in the project by dr. Machiel Keestra from the Institute of Interdisciplinary Studies.
During this period two new publication have been published. See below.
Also see the Progress of each WP on our site.

Inaugural speech by Monique van der Veen ‘A well-spoken conversation about collaborating on oral health’
Oral diseases such as caries and periodontitis are among the most common lifestyle diseases and the most costly diseases in the Netherlands. There is a clear interaction between oral health and overall health. Yet the mouth remains completely out of the picture in the prevention agreement on lifestyle-related diseases. Exploring Dutch municipal advertising restrictions on unhealthy and unsustainable products
This study is the first to examine municipal advertisement restrictions in the Netherlands. Municipal advertising restrictions were often initiated by a left-wing council member. Existing momentum and favourable political climate facilitated policy development, while lack of political support formed a barrier for that. FedDeepInsight – A privacy-first federated learning architecture for medical data
Medical data, hospital patient-specific data, are highly sensitive to privacy and are essential for research in the biomedical field. Although there are many new approaches to creating databases that ensure data must be FAIR and GDPR compliant, these approaches require the intervention of secured data handlers. To address this gap, this study investigates and designs a standardized Federated Learning (FL) architecture for medical data.
