MetaHealth has created Network Maps of child-friendly dental practices that are open to collaborating with the child health clinics in their immediate vicinity in Amsterdam Nieuw-West, Southeast, North, and Zaandam-East.
The Network Maps were created by various groups of dental hygiene students and ACTA students under the supervision of Prof. Monique van der Veen and Awani Balasooryian (Amsterdam Nieuw-West and Zuidoost) / Bich Chau (Noord) / Jacoline de Vries (Zaandam).
A checklist was used to determine that the dentists largely work in accordance with the guidelines for oral care for young people from the Knowledge Institute for Oral Care (KIMO) and that they have space in their practices for children starting from the eruption of their first tooth, irrespective of their parents being enrolled as patients.
Meanwhile, researchers at Utrecht University of Applied Sciences have set up an online platform to support this collaboration between Youth Health Care and dentists: MondzorgHub. (In Dutch)
