The number of fast food restaurants in the Netherlands has increased by more than half in ten years, the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) reports. Early this year, the Netherlands had over 19,000 such eating places, compared to about 12,600 in 2014.
This concerns an undesirable social development that is bad for public health. Health scientist Dr Joreintje Mackenbach of the Amsterdam UMC was allowed to respond to this as an expert at RTL Z, in a prime-time news broadcast. Among other things, she mentioned the research into advertising measures. She conducts this research within work package 5, Complex interventions.
