About MetaHealth in Osaka

During her visit to the Conservative Dentistry Conference in Yokohama, Japan, Egija Zaura also visited Osaka University Dental School. On June 1st, 2026, she delivered a talk to an international audience of residents and research staff.

Her presentation highlighted key research activities at ACTA and explored opportunities for future collaboration with Osaka University. She also introduced the concept of inter- and transdisciplinary research, focusing on its role in addressing “wicked” problems such as caries and overweight in young children. As a central example, she presented the MetaHealth programme.

Inclusivity and access to oral healthcare in Asian countries

Although MetaHealth focuses on the first 1,000 days of children born in Amsterdam, the presentation resonated strongly with the audience. It sparked a lively and engaging discussion on inclusivity and access to oral healthcare in Asian countries, underscoring the global relevance and importance of research initiatives like ours.
