Nicholas Pucci is a PhD student at the Amsterdam University Medical Center (AUMC) and working on the MetaHealth program.
Born and raised in Rome, Italy, he moved to the Netherlands in 2014 to pursue his dream of becoming a researcher in biology. Most of his educational training and personal interests have been focused on the interactions of marine microbial populations with one another as well as with their physical and chemical environment. Now, as a PhD student, he is passionate about exploring the human microbiome and its role in human health. His research focuses on the mechanisms underlying early-life gut microbiome colonization and its implications for healthy growth. To achieve these goals, he uses a range of computational methods including comparative genomics and machine learning.
