Bastiaan Krom is professor of Oral Microbiology at the Academic Centre for Dentistry Amsterdam (ACTA). He received his training as molecular microbiologist at the University of Groningen, the Netherlands.
After his PhD he specialized in the biology of the yeast Candida albicans. Starting 2011 he is studying the role of C. albicans within the complex oral ecosystem.
Since January 1st 2024 he is chairing the department of Preventive Dentistry at ACTA.
Within Metahealth Bastiaan is the lead work package 4:Microbiome modulation in vitro.
