Bich is a candidate at the Pediatric Dentistry department of ACTA. Het background is in Pharmaceutical Sciences and International Public Health which she both finished at the VU.
She has experiences with participatory action research, in particularly for reducing health disparities. During her last internship at the Amsterdam Institute for Global Health and Development (AIGHD), she co-created an intervention together with men having sex with men (MSM) to increase HIV testing among the MSM community. She finds working together with the target population highly important, not only for the outcome of the project but also to include all those involved.
In her research the aim is to prevent childhood dental caries and overweight in the first 1000 days of life among children living in vulnerable conditions. For this she utilizes a participatory system dynamics approach, where I combine system thinking and participatory action research (PAR) to achieve sustainable change. This approach allows them to recognize the complexity of childhood dental caries and overweight while working together with the target group. Her research is set in Amsterdam North, a district in Amsterdam where childhood overweight is more prevalent in comparison with other districts such as Amsterdam South.
