Huub C.J. Hoefsloot holds an MSc in Mathematics (1987) and a PhD in Chemical Engineering / Numerical Mathematics (1992). In 1991, he started as an assistant professor at the Universiteit van Amsterdam. In 2000 he became associate professor and in 2001 he joined the Biosystems Data Analysis group (SILS). From 2012-2021 he was the director of the MSc life science: bioinformatics & systems biology, for one day per week. He teaches in several courses at both master and bachelor level. He acted as daily supervisor for more than 25 PhD’s and Post-Docs and he supervised many Master and Bachelor students.
His main research area is building and validating (dynamical) models of complex biological/chemical processes. He has published more than 150 peer-reviewed papers on simulations and data analysis in the fields of chemistry, physics, engineering, life sciences and education.
