Jianbo Zhang, tenure-track assistant professor at the Swammerdam Institute for Life Sciences, the Faculty of Natural Sciences Mathematics and Informatics (FNWI) of the UvA. He obtained his PhD in Health Science and Technology at ETH Zurich (2018).

After his PhD, he did his postdoc training at Department Biological Engineering of MIT, working on establishing a microphysiological system for microbe-host interactions. Since 2021, he has been working at the SILS of the UvA. He focuses on discovering beneficial host-microbiome interactions using advanced in vitro human gut models.
