Sofía is a passionate researcher focused on human health from both population and microbiological perspectives. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Biomedicine from the University of Barcelona, Spain, and pursued a Master’s in Ecology and Evolution at the University of Groningen, the Netherlands.
Committed to making an impact through her research, she has actively participated in numerous outreach and teaching activities and has joined different networks such as the Global Health Next Generation Network and the European Synthetic Biology Society.
Sofía has researched bacteriophage-bacteria interactions to combat antimicrobial resistance and explore biotechnology applications. Her primary interest lies in microbial communities and their interactions. Within Metahealth, she will employ advanced microbiology and molecular techniques, along with innovative data analysis tools, to better understand the interactions among microbial communities and their implications in infant oral health.
