How do you develop an intervention that truly resonates with the target group?
As part of MetaHealth’s WP6, students from ISW Hoogeland’s Technasia and NorthgoCollege set out to address this question. The first projects have now been completed and are providing valuable insights for both the students and the research.
At ISW Hoogeland, Sogol Abbaszadeh, Jessie Strang, and Anna Duin investigated how to improve the brushing habits and oral health of children aged 10 to 14. Based on questionnaires, a literature review, and insights from behavioral change research, they developed the “Look in the Mirror” campaign together with researcher Lea Hohendorf.
For WP6, which focuses on dissemination and implementation, these projects confirm the importance of early involvement of the target group. By allowing young people to contribute their own ideas about solutions, interventions are created that better align with their experiences, language, and motivation. That is precisely the kind of knowledge needed to ultimately make health interventions more applicable and effective.
The collaboration with Technasia demonstrates that young talent not only learns from research but can also actively contribute to developing relevant and practical solutions to health issues.
