Dear reader,

In the second half of 2024, we had another successful consortium meeting focussed on impact.

Additionally, we are pleased to announce the growth in the number of MetaHealth researchers. We welcome Josine Stuber, Zana Chadud Cosac, Shivam Kumar, Sofía Jiménez Ochoa, Coen Berns, Wikje Berends, Susanne Pinto and Aliki Antoniou.

Starting in early 2025, Janine Sikkens will replace Laurence Alpay as the lead for Work Package 6 (WP6). Laurence, who has been involved since the early stages of proposal writing, is taking early retirement from Inholland but will remain engaged in WP6.

We are also excited to introduce Lili Genee as the new societal member of our advisory board.

Inaugural lecture Bastiaan Krom
Following his appointment as Professor of Oral Microbiology on December 1, 2023, the leader of work package 4, Prof. dr. Bastiaan Krom delivered his inaugural lecture on September 6, 2024. In this lecture, entitled 'Fungi: Master of Puppets' he reflected on the oral microbiology field and gave a glimpse into the future. Read more

Monique van der Veen starts as professor Cooperation for Oral Health
The leader of Work Package 1, Prof. dr. ir. Monique van der Veen, began her role as a professor in 'Collaborating on Oral Health' at Inholland University of Applied Sciences on November 1, 2024. This collaboration is much needed according to Monique. Read more

This concerns an undesirable social development that is detrimental to public health. Health scientist Dr. Joreintje Mackenbach of the Amsterdam UMC has responded to this issue as an expert on RTL Z during a prime-time news broadcast. Read more
