Denise Duijster is an assistant professor, affiliated with the Society and Oral Health section of the Academic Center for Dentistry Amsterdam (ACTA). She has completed the Master’s program ‘Dental Public Health’ at University College London. In early 2015, she received her doctorate from the University of Amsterdam on the role of the family in the prevention of caries in children.
Research
Since 2010, Denise has been involved in research into the ‘Fit for School’ program. This program promotes hand washing, teeth brushing and the accessibility of water and clean plumbing in primary schools in the Philippines, Indonesia, Laos and Cambodia. She lived in the Philippines for a year for this. She is currently conducting research at ACTA on socio-economic health differences, quality of oral care and the prevention of oral diseases in both high and low-income countries.
Board work
Denise Duijster is a board member of the Dutch Association for Pediatric Dentistry and chairman of the Amsterdam Young Academy (AYA).
Within MetaHealth Denise is the lead of work package 2: Cohort studies.
