Denise Duijster

Denise Duijster is associate professor at the Department of Oral Public Health at the Academic Centre for Dentistry Amsterdam (ACTA). After her Bachelor’s degree in Dentistry, she completed the Master’s degree in ‘Dental Public Health’ at University College London. In early 2015, she received her PhD from the University of Amsterdam on the role of family factors in the prevention of dental caries in children.

Denise conducts research on socioeconomic inequalities in oral disease, quality of oral health care, health behaviour change and dental caries prevention for children in both high- and low-middle income countries. She is also involved in research on school health policy in Southeast Asia, for which she worked in the Philippines for a year. Her teaching focusses on dental public health, evidence-based dentistry and communication in dental health care.

Denise is an editor at the Dutch Journal of Dentistry and has board experience at the Dutch Association of Pediatric Dentistry, the Amsterdam Young Academy and the congress organisation of the International Association of Pediatric Dentistry in Maastricht 2023.

Within MetaHealth Denise is the lead of work package 2: Cohort studies.
